In 1997, Faron began self-syndicating the column.
In 2001, Faron sold the detective agency and moved to New Orleans. Initially, Faron decided to “grow” the column, but after four months of gathering over 3,000 email addresses of editors nationwide, she discovered that without the everyday input from the detective business, the decade-old column had became difficult, if not impossible to write.
At that point, Faron chose to discontinue writing Ask Rat Dog and began teaching others how to emulate her success.
